Dungiven Sports Centre has created a new community focal point for the wider Dungiven area and acts as a testament to a cohesive Client, Design and Contractor Team to deliver a publicly funded project on programme and within tight budget constraints.

The project relocated the internal sports facilities from the town’s existing sports centre to an existing grass pitch facility on the outskirts of the town, creating an integrated community sports facility for indoor and outdoor sports. Facilities provided incorporate a new changing pavilion with integrated 4 court sports hall, a FIFA standard synthetic football pitch and associated siteworks.

The overall desire for the project was to enhance the civic pride and nature of the existing parkland, which provided little architectural presence to the adjacent main road. The architectural language forms a homogenous group of typical rural/agricultural forms suitable to the new building’s location within a rural provincial town.
