ULSTER HOSPITAL ENTRANCE PAVILION

The new entrance provides an upgrade to the main frontage of the Ulster Hospital and forms part of the extensive redevelopment for the overall estate.  New facilities include a reception area, small shop and waiting area as well as administrative and ancillary accommodation.

The south-facing entrance building creates an open and welcoming environment through the construction of a new double storey foyer space.  A high level of transparency has been achieved both internally and externally through the use of high performance glazing and external brise-soleil.  This allows activity to be clearly visible from outside, whilst achieving good natural daylight levels within the main foyer space.

The complexities of integrating existing underground services, building structures and level changes had to be addressed in realising this project, whilst ensuring that a live entrance to the Ulster Hospital was maintained throughout the construction period.
