A major planning application has been submitted by Kennedy FitzGerald Architects to Offaly County Council on behalf of the Board of Management of Coláiste Íosagáin, Portarlington for the development of a new 1300 pupil school. This is one of the largest single post primary school developments being procured by the Department of Education in Ireland.

The development will involve demolition of the existing school and construction of a new part 3-storey, part 2-storey Post Primary School Building containing 48 general classrooms, 24 specialist classrooms, a 4 class special educational needs suite, a double height general-purpose hall and multi-purpose hall with associated PE accommodation.
