The Queen’s Film Theatre first opened in 1968 in a converted lecture hall on the campus of Queen’s University Belfast. Kennedy FitzGerald were appointed by the university in 2003 to oversee the design of the major refurbishment and extension of this existing facility on behalf of the Film and Drama Department.

The reconfiguration of the theatre’s entrance enhanced the connection to the main campus and upon completion accommodation included two cinemas, a theatre social space, meeting rooms, a green room and dressing rooms.

The works have helped to ensure that the QFT remains a much-loved venue for cinema-goers and continues to make a significant contribution to social and cultural life in Belfast.
