Kennedy FitzGerald were appointed as Architects and Lead Consultant for this project following a design competition and interview in 2006.

The challenging triangular site within the historic John Brown shipyard confined by the majestic River Clyde on one side and the slipways which launched the QE2 on the other. These constraints prompted a unique and innovative design, utilizing cantilevers to realize the Client’s vision for the centre with imagery which also linked the building back to is historic past.  It provides a 6 lane 25m pool, teaching pool, wave pool, first ever UK interactive water slide, fitness suite, eight court multi-use sports hall, unique interactive play area, cafe, 3 studio’s and conference facilities.

The design was the first UK stacked leisure building over 6 floors including a full basement. Its form was two interlocking objects reminiscent of the historical building from the site.
