QUB SOCIAL HUB

This Queen’s University of Belfast building at 92-96 Lisburn Road was left vacant after serving as a temporary Students Union space. QUB proposed to refurbish the building to provide a social hub and gaming centre. Kennedy FitzGerald Architects acted as Lead Consultant and Contract Administrator, working in collaboration with an integrated consultancy team including Philip Rodgers Design, who were responsible for the interior design concept.

The updated interior reflects an engaging contemporary space for students and public. The ground floor renovation includes new floors, mural painted walls, new furniture, bespoke light fittings and display cases.

The mezzanine level, previously a pool table area, has been repurposed as a VR gaming space. A new staircase provides access to the brand-new state of the art gaming suite on the first floor. The first-floor space will hold gaming events and display competitions on large screens for spectators to watch.
