BELFAST SOUTH METHODIST CHURCH
Permission was granted for the removal of the existing Church on the basis that the new church building contributed more positively to the overall Conservation Area in terms of quality and design.
The brief for this project was based on detailed assessments of not just the congregations future needs but also the social needs of the local community. The vision is to accommodate solutions to meet these needs within the church premises, which in turn will allow the congregation to build bridges with the local community.
As well as a conventional worship area, which incorporates cutting edge video and multi–media facilities, the new church provides office and meeting room accommodation, a large multi–purpose hall that is used by local sports clubs and community groups and a small non–commercial café facility is available in the entrance foyer to provide a welcoming environment.
